| Who We Are |
|
The Zen Center on Main Street is
a community of people that come together
to practice in the Soto Zen Tradition.
We maintain a sacred space in the middle of town
as a reminder that our awakened, spriritual life
is not separate
from our ordinary daily activities. All are welcome. |
| Abbot and Teacher |
|
Roshi Enkyo O'Hara, of the
Village Zendo
in New York City,
is the Abbot of the Zen Center on Main Street.
A Zen priest and certified Zen Teacher in the Soto Tradition,
Roshi O'Hara studied with Roshi John Daido Loori of Zen Mountain
Monastery and
Taizan Maezumi Roshi of the Zen Center of Los Angeles.
In 1997, she received Dharma Transmission from Roshi Bernie
Tetsugen Glassman
and in June 2004, the title "Roshi". |
| Priest in Residence |
|
Anraku Hondorp began her Zen Studies in 1987 with Roshi Daido
Loori. She is a Soto Zen priest and senior student of Roshi
Enkyo O'Hara's. Anraku also holds an MFA in Dance, practices
as a Network Chiropractor and is the Buddhist Advisor at Smith
and Hampshire Colleges. She is an assistant teacher in the
White Plum lineage. |
| Vision |
|
Our vision is to provide a sacred space right in the middle of
town that will be used as a center for Zen practice in the
midst of our daily lives. Just as we find the
rich diversity
and the
many flavors of the Dharma here in the Pioneer Valley an
inspiration to practice, we hope that you --in whatever your
tradition is-- will find encouragement and support in this Zen
space. |
